Ryder Honored Among Top Five for Thirteenth Consecutive Year

MIAMI, FL, Aug 11, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in supply chain, warehousing and transportation management solutions, today announced it has been named the Number-One third-party logistics (3PL) provider in the annual Inbound Logistics Top 10 3PL Excellence Awards. This is the fourth consecutive year Ryder wins the top spot by this leading publication and the thirteenth consecutive year Ryder is recognized as a top-five 3PL.

"Given the growing complexity of mastering global supply chain management, the role 3PLs play continues to be increasingly important," said Felecia Stratton, Editor of Inbound Logistics. "Companies need third party logistics providers that can offer the scalability to respond to demand volatility and changing customer requirements while still offering excellent operational execution and cost-savings. Our readers have consistently indicated that Ryder is their top choice for meeting their needs."

This year's Top 10 3PL Excellence Awards were based on faxed, mailed, emailed, and online ballots received by Inbound Logistics from December 2009 to June 2010. Readers nominated approximately 800 companies and cast 9,500 votes, further proof of the continuing competition among outsourced logistics providers.

"We're honored to receive this special recognition," said John Williford, Ryder's President of Global Supply Chain Solutions. "We have been really focused on providing flawless operational execution and at the same time introducing proactive, new solutions for our customers. For example, we were awarded a patent related to the Logistics Release process that we use in conjunction with the Ryder 'Control Tower' to optimize shipment planning and execution. Additionally, we've developed a 'Lean Warehouse Template' that maximizes efficiency at our customers' facilities. These are two recent examples of our commitment to providing the infrastructure and flexibility to proactively address our customers' changing needs. We're very grateful to our peers and customers for recognizing our service capabilities."
