Ryder Earns Anti-Terrorism Certifications for Logistics Operations in Asia

Jun 21, 2011

MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Ryder System, Inc., (NYSE: R) a leader in transportation and supply chain management solutions, announced today that it has received three anti-terrorism certifications for its Asia and Trans-Pacific logistics operations. These certifications enhance Ryder’s existing anti-terrorism certifications for supply chain operations in North America.

Ryder Ascent Logistics Singapore and Ryder Supply Chain Solutions Asia – part of Ryder’s Supply Chain Solutions division – have been certified as Third Party Logistics Providers (3PL) in the Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism (C-TPAT). C-TPAT is a joint U.S. government-business initiative supported by the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Customs and Border Protection that promotes global supply chain security and reduces border vulnerabilities.

Ryder CRSA Logistics, also part of Ryder’s Supply Chain Solutions division, has been certified in the Canada Partners in Protection (PIP) program. PIP is a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) program that enlists the cooperation of private industry to enhance border and trade chain security, combat organized crime and terrorism and help detect and prevent contraband smuggling.

“Securing a global supply chain that spans oceans, miles and cultures requires a team effort with all stakeholders being committed to the same goal,” said Gene Sevilla-Sacasa, Vice President, International Supply Chain Solutions, for Ryder. “For customers who rely on Ryder to safely and securely execute supply chain movements throughout North America and Asia, these voluntary certifications help to improve customs compliance, speed border crossings, and bolster overall supply chain security.”

Through its international subsidiaries, Ryder Supply Chain Solutions provides end-to-end origin and destination services around the globe. These include consolidation, purchase order management, distribution, packaging, deconsolidation, cross border management and finished goods delivery. Ryder’s program includes a uniform set of global policies and procedures that are implemented by the Company’s operations teams.
