MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Chain Executive magazine has named Ryder’s Vice President of Lean

"Our annual list of Provider Pros to Know highlights the many
thought-leaders who are helping to shape the supply chain industry and
advance supply chain as a respected discipline in the enterprise," said
Barry Hochfelder, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive.
“Their efforts in developing the tools, processes and knowledge base
necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new
approaches to supply chain enablement, have earned them a place on this
year's Provider Pros listing.”
With his broad experience in Lean methodologies and practices, Mr. Arndt
developed the Ryder Lean Warehouse Template – a set of warehousing best
practices that are replicated across Ryder’s distribution centers to
ensure maximum employee engagement, productivity, efficiency, and
cost-savings for customers. Lean practices improve quality by striving
to take cost and waste out of all the facets of an operation, from the
procurement of raw materials to the shipment of finished goods. With the
successful implementation of the Ryder Lean Warehouse Template, Ryder’s
customers have been able to realize tangible benefits, such as improving
order fill rates, inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and vendor
compliance. The same Lean guiding principles that serve as the basis for
the Lean Warehouse Template are also now being applied to other areas of
the Company to enhance functions such as transportation management and
fleet management.
“Bob has identified and implemented the most effective Lean principles
and tools from his experience working with some of the most complex
manufacturing supply chains in the world,” said John Williford,
President of Global Supply Chain Solutions for Ryder. “We have adapted
these practices across all the industries we serve and even other
functions within the Company to continue to raise productivity and
efficiency. Bob’s leadership has been instrumental in guiding this
process, especially in helping to cultivate a Lean mindset and culture.
While Lean processes are the foundation, it’s our people who bring those
processes to life, and Bob has played a key role in motivating our teams
to strive for and achieve excellence in execution.”
