Introduces New Brand Name and Enhanced Services That Enable Private
Fleets to Be Nimble, Run Lean, and Stay Safe
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ryder
System, Inc. (NYSE:R), a leader in commercial
transportation and supply
chain management solutions, today announced a new brand name for its
dedicated transportation solution, formerly known as Dedicated Contract
Carriage (DCC). The new brand name, Ryder
Dedicated, reflects an enhanced solution that focuses on specialized
handling, adds new integrated services, and is supported by a new
technology platform that enables private fleets to be nimble, run lean,
and stay safe.
“Private fleet owners are facing unprecedented challenges, from a driver
shortage, to complex safety and regulatory requirements, and rising fuel
costs,” said
John Sonia
, Senior Vice President,
Ryder Dedicated
. “With a
Ryder Dedicated solution, they can quickly adapt to changing staffing
needs, drive efficiencies through optimized networks and leading
technology, and mitigate risk by working with a proven safety leader.”
Ryder has been in the dedicated transportation business as a logistics
specialist managing $4 billion in transportation spending for nearly
seven decades. The Ryder Dedicated offering combines vehicles,
maintenance, and administrative services, with drivers and additional
value-added services, all dedicated to a specific customer. Ryder
Dedicated is perfect for companies with specialized equipment or product
handling needs, complex routes, rigorous service level agreements or
high driver turnover.
With Ryder Dedicated, private fleets can adapt to changing demand,
staffing and service needs by utilizing highly-skilled, safe drivers
that are hired, trained, and managed by Ryder. In addition, Ryder can
help fleets meet their unique handling needs with specialized vehicles
and equipment customized for their industry and operation, and expertly
maintained by a network of 5,000 Ryder technicians.
Ryder Dedicated customers can also gain additional efficiencies by
adding on Transportation Management services. This new integrated
solution helps fleets tap into backhaul revenue-sharing opportunities
with other Ryder customers to minimize empty miles and offset
transportation costs. Working with Ryder, customers have access to
unmatched capacity – whether it’s by accessing vehicles from one of the
largest commercial fleets in North America or adding the flexibility of
using third-party carriers.
A new proprietary technology platform brings greater visibility and
operational efficiency across the entire Ryder’s Dedicated fleet to
better optimize assets, routes, service levels and total operating costs
for customers.
“Customers tell us they need a dedicated fleet along with flexible
value-added services, professional drivers who they can trust to
represent their businesses, and a culture committed to safety,”
continued Mr. Sonia. “No provider does these things better than Ryder.
Being nimble, running lean, and staying safe are top priorities for
today’s private fleets and these are the very same pillars that make up
the foundation of the Ryder Dedicated solution.”
The Ryder Dedicated relaunch will be rolled out during the first half of
2013, and will include updated sales collateral, print and online media,
and new vehicle decaling. For more information on the Ryder Dedicated
