Employee Campaign and Foundation Contribution Raises more than
$700,000 to Benefit Programs
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ryder
System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in commercial
fleet management and supply
chain solutions, is proud to announce it has surpassed its 2014
United Way Campaign goal, with a total contribution of $700,000,
constituting Ryder’s largest contribution and record setting employee
pledge total to the United
Way to date.
Funds raised through the annual campaign are invested in programs and
initiatives that prepare children and youth for success in school and
life, help individuals and families pave a path to financial stability,
and offer health screenings and resources that help individuals,
families, and older adults improve their health.
These funds were raised during Ryder’s “Greater Giving” campaign at four
major employee centers including the Company’s Global Headquarters in
Miami, Fla., and Company offices in Novi, Mich; Alpharetta, Ga.; and Ft.
Worth, Tex. Co-chaired by Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing
Officer Karen Jones and Vice President of Asset Management Eugene
Tangney, the campaign consisted of an event-filled week that included a
Ryder “Top Chef” competition, “Live and Learn” workshop sessions,
employee tours of United Way-sponsored organizations, and an
entertaining Ryder Variety Show.
“Ryder’s commitment and passion for helping others is unwavering,” said
Harve A. Mogul, United Way of Miami-Dade president and CEO. “The Ryder
employee campaign is one of the largest and oldest in our history and a
wonderful example of a model campaign where staff at every level is
engaged in making Miami a better place for all of us.”
Ryder has supported the United Way of Miami-Dade for more than 40 years.
Each year, the annual campaign is organized by Company officers at the
Miami Headquarters and a group of volunteers who planned and executed a
week of fundraising activities and donations made through an online
pledging portal. Donations made by Ryder’s employees play a critical
role in meeting the goal.
“Co-chairing this worthy cause was both fun and rewarding,” shared Mr.
Tangney. “I was extremely pleased to see so many here at Ryder share of
their time, talent, and treasure.”
“It is important that we continue to raise the bar in helping those in
need within our communities,” said Ms. Jones. “The fact that we continue
to surpass our goal year after year is a true testament to the
importance we place on greater giving at Ryder.”
“Giving back in the communities where we work and live is an inherent
part of our culture at Ryder,” said Ryder’s Chairman and CEO Robert
Sanchez. “Thanks to the continued growth in the number of people who are
coming together to make a difference in the lives of others, we have
been able to help United Way further their mission.”
