Ryder presents Mileage Club Award to drivers whose combined
experience totals more than 41 million miles of safe driving
MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ryder
System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in commercial
fleet management and supply
chain management solutions, announced that in the first half of
2014, it has awarded 69 of its drivers with Ryder Mileage Club Awards.
The honor is presented to drivers achieving quarter million miles, half
million miles, one million miles, two million miles, three million
miles, and four million miles driven without a preventable collision.
“Ryder’s drivers literally drive our business,” said Senior Vice
President, Ryder Dedicated, John Diez. “We are proud to recognize them
for their tremendous dedication to safely delivering our customers’
goods across the country. We will continue our commitment to all of our
drivers as they all strive to attain these milestones.”
Ryder’s safety culture is inherent in all aspects of the business, from
driver safety to safety technology. The Company’s drivers receive
thorough safety training, and its safety-driven culture ultimately helps
its customers reduce accidents and delivery disruptions while improving
customer service. In addition to ongoing training, Ryder vehicles are
equipped with onboard safety-technologies that provide real-time
performance monitoring and reporting. A majority of Ryder’s drivers work
in the Ryder
Dedicated business, where they provide dedicated support to a single
customer and which, in turn, provides them with more predictable routes
and schedules.
Recipients of Ryder’s Mileage Club Award are presented a plaque, as well
as points for each safe mileage achievement that are redeemable for a
variety of merchandise. For the past 41 years, the Company has honored
the top drivers in its Fleet Management Solutions, Supply Chain
Solutions, and Dedicated divisions, who have demonstrated exemplary
safety performance, customer service, and citizenship throughout their
careers. These drivers, selected annually, are presented with Ryder’s
Driver of the Year Award from Ryder Chairman and CEO Robert Sanchez at a
special awards ceremony, and are inducted into the Ryder “Driver Hall of
Fame.” Ryder’s Mileage Club award recipients for the first half of 2014
