MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ryder
System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in commercial
fleet management and supply
chain management solutions, today announced that National
Tube Supply (NTS), a national distributor of carbon and alloy
mechanical tubing, has renewed its contract for dedicated transportation
services with Ryder. The Ryder
Dedicated offering provides businesses with highly skilled
professional drivers, specialized vehicles customized for their
industries and operations, expert maintenance, and value-added services
such as network design and engineering. NTS’ total dedicated fleet with
Ryder consists of 45 pieces of equipment, including tractors and
trailers.
NTS Chief Operating Officer Brian Kluge noted, “We recognized early on
that our core competency does not lie in managing vehicles or keeping up
with the ever-changing and complex demands of the trucking industry.”
For this reason, it made good business sense for NTS to outsource its
transportation operations to a 3PL provider like Ryder.
“Since 2001, our business has grown six-fold, and Ryder’s extensive
network and resources have helped to make that possible,” said Mr.
Kluge. “We flex up and down on a regular basis in response to our
changing business needs, and Ryder does a great job of adjusting to our
business activity with quick turnaround.”
Since partnering with Ryder in 2001, NTS no longer needs to focus
resources on recruiting and hiring drivers, which allows them to
concentrate on what they do best—selling and processing steel tubing.
“Ryder continues to provide consistency with its drivers by maintaining
low driver turnover, which has been a testament to their ability to
manage through the industry-wide driver shortage. This is critical to
our business, as Ryder’s drivers are seen by our customers as an
extension of National Tube Supply,” said Mr. Kluge.
The business currently works with Ryder in Chicago and Los Angeles, and
plans on expanding the relationship in Houston this year.
“Being able to support National Tube Supply’s growth over the years has
been gratifying,” said John Diez, Senior Vice President of Ryder
Dedicated. “It demonstrates the significant value and peace of mind we
are affording customers through Ryder Dedicated. Our ability to deliver
exceptional customer service is one of the key reasons why NTS continues
to work with us, and it’s part of what enables us to forge long-lasting
relationships.”
National Tube Supply, located just south of Chicago, began operations in
August of 1990 as a national distributor of carbon and alloy mechanical
tubing. The NTS sales team averages over 20 years of experience and
works directly with engineering departments and buyers to ensure that
the right material and tolerances are utilized in their customers’
projects.
