MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ryder System, Inc. (NYSE: R), a leader in commercial fleet
management, dedicated
transportation, and supply
chain solutions, announced today that it is integrating all of
Ryder’s sales functions under the leadership of John Gleason, who has
been promoted to the new role of Executive Vice President and Chief
Sales Officer. Mr. Gleason, who most recently held the position of
Senior Vice President of Sales for Ryder’s Fleet Management Solutions
business segment, will report directly to Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer, Robert Sanchez and become a member of Ryder’s Leadership Team.
In his new role, Mr. Gleason will be responsible for leading sales teams
supporting all three Ryder business divisions: Fleet Management
Solutions (FMS), Dedicated Transportation Solutions (DTS), and Supply
Chain Solutions (SCS).
“Macro trends have created a marketplace that increasingly favors
outsourcing, and by elevating and uniting our sales organization under
one leader, we are better positioned to capitalize on this growth
opportunity,” said Ryder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Robert
Sanchez. “I am confident that John will be able to harness the strength
and synergies of a combined sales force to help us continue to
accelerate growth at Ryder.”
Mr. Gleason joined Ryder in 2009 and has a proven track record of
accelerating sales in Ryder’s FMS segment. He worked closely with FMS
leadership to increase lease fleet growth by more than 11,000 units over
the last four years. In addition, Mr. Gleason has helped lead
collaborative sales efforts among our business segments that have
resulted in significant increases in DTS sales during that same period.
Prior to joining Ryder, John enjoyed a 25-year career with market-leader
Automatic Data Processing (ADP), where he held positions of increasing
responsibility including serving as the Chief Sales Officer responsible
for 5,500 sales associates worldwide. Prior to that, John was Senior
Vice President of Sales for ADP Dealer Services (now CDK), which
provides outsourced Dealer Management Systems to the auto and truck
industry.
