MIAMI--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ryder

chain solutions, today announced that it has been named the award
recipient of the “Best Use of Technology” award, presented by the Greater
Miami Chamber of Commerce.

“Among the finalists for this year’s award for the Best Use of
Technology, the judges determined that Ryder’s technological innovations
were far superior and worthy of top honors,” said Barry E. Johnson,
president/CEO of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. “What stood out
was Ryder’s ambitious and efficient application of the right
technological solutions to solve a business challenge with value-added
results,” he added.
Ryder was honored for its innovative technology solution to improve the rental
customer experience. The technology makeover—which was recently
implemented at 500-plus truck rental locations, servicing more than
15,000 commercial customers throughout North America—has significantly
increased customer satisfaction, improved operational efficiency, and
reduced losses in an environmentally friendly way.
Ryder converted a manual, paper-intensive process to a seamless,
digital, efficient experience that rental customers truly appreciate.
Rental representatives now greet customers with tablets in hand that
bring up their rental contract, collect key customer information,
capture digital signatures, and perform damage inspections both before
and after the rental. All of the information is digitally stored, and a
copy of the contract is emailed to the customer, along with detailed
vehicle inspection reports that include images of the vehicle’s
condition. The new rental experience makes efficient use of eco-friendly
technology, reducing annual printing and storage costs by an estimated
$100,000 and saving more than 300,000 sheets of paper each year.
Ryder partnered with leading technology companies in the areas of
Mobility, Cloud, Big Data, and Business Process Management to bring to
market a solution in less than half the time it would have taken via
traditional approaches and legacy systems.
The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce recently honored finalists at its
annual Technology Leaders of the Year Awards at Miami’s Jungle Island.
The luncheon recognized individuals and organizations with extraordinary
technological hands-on experience whose management of technology
resources and/or technological innovations have made outstanding
contributions to their organization and the community.
